I was given my first SLR camera by my Dad when I was aged 12 which was a then 20 year old, 35 mm, Yashica camera. Its so long ago that I cannot remember the model! That was in 1980 and I have been fascinated with photography ever since.

Photography has always been a pastime and in the past few years I have developed my technical knowledge and understanding by attending various Nikon school courses and experience days.  These have been invaluable in helping me to develop some of my current techniques including low light shooting. In recent years I have used mainly Nikon DSLR cameras and have more recently moved to the mirrorless range, shooting with the Nikon Z7 ii currently.

This quote by Ansel Adams rings true for me -

"You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography, all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved."

I like to think that in some ways this comes out in my photographs.

I remember hearing a photographer saying that a picture isn't taken, it is given and I try to adopt this approach in all my photography.

My youngest daughter Grace is also a very keen photographer and has a vey unique and interesting perspective on photography. You can view her photographs on Graces page.

Thank you for visiting my website and I hope you enjoy the photographs.
